The hi-band version of the original Sony designed Video 8 format (has up to 400 lines of resolution).

HDMI
High Definition Multimedia Interface. Allows full quality digital audio and video to be shared between equipment.

HDTV
HDTV is a new set of digital standards for improved television transmission and viewing.

Traditional TV is scanned at 576i, which means there are 576 vertical lines (meaning half the picture is displayed many times each second). HDTV is scanned at either 720p (progressively - where the whole picture is displayed many times each second) or 1080i (interlaced), providing a superior picture quality.
